Good thing I went by myself and did not pre book any hotel before I got there.
My first place in Bay St Louis which is about 30 mins closer to my house then Biloxi was lame.
The Hollywood Casino.

Walked in the door and asked where the sports book was.

Got pointed to a small corner in the back.
Had one counter with 2 clerks.

There was absolutely no place to watch the games whatsoever.

Alll they had was 2 60" tvs in a bar next to the sportsbook.

This was not going to happen so I left.
So glad my girl did not go with me and so glad I did not prebook a hotel.
That would have sucked.

I headed 30 more mins south to Biloxi and went to the Gold Nugget .

Now this was much better.

This was sat morning (yesterday) about 10:30AM 30 mins before the first kickoffs.

They had at least 50 60" tvs and the guy running it was knowledgable about what to put up on the screens.

They had every betting option that the William Hills in Vegas offers.

Between the clerks and the kiosk there was never an issue getting a bet in in time.

I was pretty much blown away at the limits.

They let one guy make a 120K bet on a college football game yesterday without blinking an eye.

They dont even need to call anyone for a bet 10k or less.

10 cent baseball lines.

The lines are slightly different from the william hills in vegas.

A guy I met had the live william hill app on his phone from when he went to vegas a few weeks ago.

We compared the lines from vegas to the ones in mississippi.

All the betting options are the same but the lines are different to reflect local action.

For instance Saints winning super bowl odds were much worse in mississippi in they were in vegas.

Raiders winning super in mississippi were much better then they were in vegas to give 2 examples.

One thing that pisses me off.

They will give someone all the free drinks in the world playing penny slots that will play with 5 bucks for hrs, but they charge someone 42$ for 6 beers that has thousands of bucks in action on football games.

Dont know why the sports book is the only place in the entire casino that does not give free drinks.

All and all it was a nice experience.

If you want to have some live action and you live closer to MS then Nevada this is a good way to go.

There are at least 6 other casinos with sports books.

I havent had the chance to try any of the others but a guy I was talking to who claims to have been to all of them says the Gold Nugget is the best of the bunch

Nice story, I have a hunch everyone will eventually get up to speed, or be left behind

They all still have so much to learn about catering to sports bettors & sports betting in general.

How some of them seem to have not done their homework already ahead of time is baffling...

still perplexed that Louisiana's vote for sportsbooks wasnt' even close. I would have visited several times during a year.

They were pretty up to speed .

The clerks were knowledgeable about what they were doing .
I was expecting more issues .

In less then 30’days they will have the phone app working to where you can make all your plays on your phone as long as you are close enough to be connected to their WiFi

all william hill operations are like that with drinks at least that ive been to. It's because they are separate from the casino. Casinos that run their own books give the drinks out.

William Hill has gotten much better with taking big amounts since they first opened here, and it doesn't get mentioned a lot. When they first were here I'd would need approval for 25 bucks on a out of market soccer match and it was annoying. Last years I had 500 on a college hockey bet and it went through instantly.

Funny you mention William Hill and GN, William Hill was the 1st app to ban me in Vegas and GN after a month or so of beating them up on the app limited me to only $100 bets except MLB ML where I can bet $200. lol

At the Fiesta in Henderson NV a few years back the comp policy was one free drink ticket for every bet made that was at least a minimum $20.

So, if you go up and bet $19, no drink. Bet $20 you get 1 drink. Bet $50, 1 drink. Bet $2,000, 1 drink.

If if you just spread your bets out by making multiple trips to the window a $100 total bettor will get 5 drinks vs the guy who bet $10k and only got 1.

Don’t know if it’s still that way or not since it’s been a few years since I’ve been on that side of town.

Correction. A total betting transaction had to be at least $20. Not just one bet.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you clarify that last part. If the one guy bet 120K why would they call anyone for 10K or less?
